Building a Successful International
Student Support Center

Thursday, September 16 from 12:30-1:30 pm PDT / 3:30-4:30 pm EDT

Colleges and universities can create true access for their international students by creating support services designed to meet the needs of linguistically and culturally diverse students. To meet this need, many institutions are moving to centralized offices that focus on international student success. For institutions wanting to do more, knowing where to start can be challenging.

Join panelists from Delta State University and Mississippi College as they discuss how designing an International Student Support Center can help attract, support, and retain international students.  Dr. Christy Riddle and Missey Hudson from Delta State University will share how their International Student Success Center was created, the services they provide, and how they track international student success. Michelle Johansen from Delta State University will share how Delta State’s diversity, equity, and inclusion programs include and highlight international students in campus life. Additionally, Mei-Chi Chen Piletz from Mississippi College will share how their Office of Global Education has become a home away from home for their international students and discuss the services they provide to ensure a smooth transition to university life and a successful on-campus and off-campus student experience.
